Board of Directors
The board of directors determines and implements the objectives, philosophy, and official policy of the Society for Healthcare Innovation. Our team is composed of leaders in their respective fields, committed to the mission of SHCI to advance innovation in healthcare.
Krzysztof “Kris” Laudanski, MD, PhD, MHCI is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in both anesthesiology and critical care. He is the Fellow of Critical Care Medicine. His clinical experience focuses on managing ECMO, VAD, postoperative recovery, sepsis, and postoperative cognitive decline.
Gabriela Sabate, MBA, MHCI, is an entrepreneur, executive, and investor with a 25-year US and international career in leading startup companies and corporate ventures in healthcare, biotechnology, and tech in Health Semantics, SoftBank, IBM and HP. With a multidisciplinary background in engineering, management and healthcare, and deep understanding of healthcare innovation and translational medical research, her current focus is on developing technologies and scientific collaborations that can transform care delivery, increase prevention and maximize data assets through AI, telemedicine and cloud computing.
Atul Kalanuria, MD, FACP, MHCI is an internist and a neurologist with specialization in neurocritical care. His experience in medicine spans over 20 years and in this time he has worked in a variety of clinical settings ranging from rural centers to tertiary care hospitals. As an educator, he has been heavily involved in creating education material and curricula for medical trainees. He firmly believes in improving healthcare through optimizing operations and has advised industry players on strategic planning and execution. He is a firm believer that this is an opportune moment for the US and global healthcare industry and maintains that success can be achieved with cross-industry collaboration.
Dmitriy Petrov, MD is an Assistant Professor in the department of Neurosurgery at the Univeristy of Pennsyvania. His clinical interests are in cranial and skull base surgery. His research program focuses on translation models of neurotrauma and development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for patients with significant head trauma. Dmitriy is also the founder of the TBI recovery project, a charity organization supporting the traumatic brain injury community. He is committed to pushing healthcare innovation forward, in both surgical technology and healthcare operations to optimize patient outcomes.
Executive Board Member
Corey received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Between 2010-2013, Corey served in a special operations unit of the IDF. He currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant, and continues to serve in the IDF reserves. Corey is completing his Executive MBA with Quantic School of Business and Technology, and is in the midst of his Masters in Health Care innovation at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. Corey is currently the VP of Business Development for Emmacare, an interactive platform that empowers care managers to more efficiently and effectively monitor patients suffering from chronic disease.
